We are so excited about your interest in becoming a Dual School! We believe that students solving problems that matter as part of their school day is a critical part of education, and we are so glad that you also want to make it happen.
The spring 2019 cohort of Dual School will launch with a kickoff weekend on March 2 and 3. The program will run 10 weeks and conclude with a public exhibition on May 14 at in the Hercules building in Wilmington.
During the program, students meet every week for three hours from 1:30-4:30 at 1313 Innovation in Wilmington. Students are welcome to apply with any idea, project or problem they care about.
In order to be a Dual School, you must have at least three students apply and be able to attend the program. You also need one faculty advisor to advocate for the students participation as well as support them logistically. This advisor is ideally a teacher, but could be anyone in the school. Lastly, Dual Schools commit to continue supporting their alumni in working on their project in the following semester. Read the Becoming a Dual School document for more information.
Throughout the ten weeks, students prototype their ideas, connect with experts and work closely with a mentor. To learn more about how we help students, check out our model.
Both the school and student applications for Spring 2019 are open until February 1st.
